Beck Hall, Yorkshire Dales

We first heard about Beck Hall through other doggy friends, and quite honestly couldn’t believe just how dog friendly it apparently was supposed to be! So off I went and did some research. I was over the moon to discover what I had been told was, infact, true!

I very rarely go anywhere without Piper, so to me it is very important that we go to somewhere she is going to feel welcome and at home. Beck Hall was without a doubt the perfect place for a get away.

When we arrived, I was in awe at how peaceful and tranquil the setting was. The only sound to be heard was the running stream and the occasional quack of a passing duck. Ideal for those who want to switch off from the world- it also helps that there is zero phone reception! But don’t worry, if you’re like me and start to panic if you’ve been offline for more than a day, the hotel offers free wifi throughout the grounds.

Once walking into reception, the first one to be greeted was Piper (which I love!). The staff were cuddling and making huge fuss of her. From that moment on I knew I really didn’t have to worry about her being in the way or upsetting the other guests. I don’t think we saw anybody staying without a dog with them!

We were shown to our room (which funnily enough was actually featured on Four In A Bed on Channel 4 a few years ago!). The decor was very modern & taseful, which was actually really refreshing as previous “dog friendly” hotels which we have stayed in have been very dull and basic, I assume for easy cleaning purposes. The beds were so soft & comfy, Piper certainly approved! The room even had it’s own smart TV, ideal for chilling after a long day of walking (which you do a lot of in the Dales!). The ensuite was very modern and had a large shower, perfect for cleaning muddy dogs should you need to. The whole place was spotlessly clean too. Honestly, you wouldn’t have known the hotel was dog friendly- not a pet hair or paw print in sight! In fact I think it was cleaner than most non dog friendly hotels I’ve stayed in before. There certainly wasn’t any wet dog smell looming.

The hotel guests have use of a communal snug, which was pretty much like a cosy sitting room! There were sofas with blankets, an open fire for chillier days and a couple of board games to pass the time. My favourite part was the honesty bar! But if you didn’t feel like sitting inside, the hotel’s garden had plenty of seats next to the stream- so idyllic!

We had decided to eat in the hotel’s on site retauarant, The Secret Garden. Oh boy, I’m glad we did! We were shown to our table in the beautifully decorated room, and the kind waitress even bought Piper her own bed to lay on whilst we ate. There was a huge selection to choose from on the menu, in fact it was hard to choose! The service was very quick and the food was very well presented. The portions where large, and sadly for us just too large as we just didn’t have room to squeeze in a dessert! (Next time, hey?!)

We both slept like lots for the whole night, and not once did we hear a dog bark! Breakfast the next morning (included in the price) was to die for. I had the full vegetarian breakfast- it was tasty, hot & again very large! We also had the choice of complementary toast, cereals, yoghurt & fruit.

Dogs stay completely free (no extra cleaning charge fee!) and are welcome everywhere in the hotel. I honestly can say I have never been to such a dog friendly hotel & can’t wait to return!

Thank you!

  1. We went with Hettie the Cockapoo on Sunday 2nd July. What a fabulous hotel, so dog friendly, cannot wait to return. Maybe we could arrange a Cockapoo meet/ holiday 😄😄
